No butterflies

young girl portrait adjust 2

With the beautiful mountain scenes and the Shenandoah Valley below, I still tend to prefer painting portraits.  It probably is  for the beauty of nature in human beings.  The two dimensional canvas must capture it all, from the mysterious river valleys and the hazy overlapping blue mountains to the joyful innocence of the young and the traces of the dimensions of time as it brings maturity and unveils the hidden soul.

I was fortunate to succeed in repairing  and repainting an old oil portrait of a pretty little girl in a pink gown and dark rimmed glasses, which she never liked.  The portrait is now hanging in her home for the first time and without the glasses.  Another important oil on canvas was completed for the board room for a hospital in Woodstock, Va.  There are several pastels, one of which was of the sweetest little girl with a pink flower in her hair and a laughter you could almost hear, another of a charming little boy with a million dollar giggle.

I was very happy to finish promised portraits on time, no “Butterflies” in the stomach the last week of Christmas.  I Can’t wait  to start on more fun paintings this year.  I’m taking orders now so please, if it is for Christmas, call me early.

Very sincerely,  Nahid
